LOTTO MAX UP CLOSE Presents
Boi-1da: 1 Night Only
Live in Toronto with special guests
Hailing from the GTA’s music-rich suburbs, Boi-1da is a key architect of Drake’s — and Toronto’s — signature sound. Famed for his kaleidoscopic blend of dancehall, pop and hip-hop, he’s masterminded countless subwoofer-rattling hits: think Rihanna’s “Work,” Kanye’s “Real Friends,” and 2018’s summer-defining “God’s Plan.”
Boi-1da (aka Matthew Samuels) is one of Canada’s biggest talents, but as his eight Grammy noms can attest, he now belongs to the world.
Boi-1da will be joined by Atlanta hip-hop icon 2 Chainz, Toronto’s next rap star Killy, and rising R&B singer Savannah Ré for an unforgettable night of live music.
Atlanta MC 2 Chainz burst onto the charts as one-half of Southern hip-hop duo Playaz Circle over 10 years ago, and the larger-than-life rapper has become a ubiquitous fixture in popular hip-hop since.
He’s recruited and appeared with the biggest names in the game, from Drake to Nicki Minaj to Kanye West and countless others, cementing his status as near peerless when it comes to modern dance floor anthems. 2 Chainz — aka Tauheed Epps — has built an unmistakable trap-rap sound that’s laden with trademark punchline rhymes, and no matter where he goes, it’s a guaranteed vibe.
Killy’s 2017 breakout track “Killamonjaro” helped him quickly amass a devoted following and millions of plays online, and now the 21-year-old Toronto rapper is taking it to the next level, touring the world and turning more heads along the way.
Though Killy’s dark, textural melodies set to trap-influenced production fit nicely within the ascendent Soundcloud rap movement, the rapper’s intricate ambience and co-sign from Boi-1da and other major players in the field signify an artistic vitality that’s sure to outlast any trend.
Savannah Ré sings with a contagious confidence. The versatile Toronto artist isn’t afraid to swap out the R&B sounds of the self-aware “Impressed” for a trap-influenced beat, like on the social commentary of “Count ‘Em Off,” and sound equally at home in both.
The future hitmaker has already logged credits with Boi-1da and more of the industry’s top talent including T-Minus (DJ Khaled), Eestbound (Travis Scott), and more, and Savannah Ré’s singular sound is on the verge of becoming a staple of Toronto’s influential musical output.
